Cadets assigned at Baguio City Police Office for their Cadet Attachment Program rendered a courtesy call to PMAJ Leo A. Danasen, Acting Chief CARMU, Baguio City Police Office, and PLTCOL Renny D. Lizardo, Force Commander, City Mobile Force Company.
Rendering "courtesy call" is a custom and practice of the Philippine National Police Academy whereby a Cadet on break status or official business visits the Police Offices in their respective area of responsibility.
A courtesy call is a formal visit made by an individual or a group of people to a person or an organization, mainly to show respect or extend greetings. In the context of the PNPA, Cadets are expected to make courtesy calls to different institutions and organizations, such as government agencies, local government units, and non-government organizations, to introduce themselves and the Academy, and to express their willingness to serve the community.
Maintaining discipline requires courtesy among members of the police force. Good interpersonal relationships may be built on the foundation of polite behavior. The difference between law enforcement officers and civilians is that courtesy was extended throughout the organization and has since been made a mandatory part of service in uniform. [1]
During the courtesy call, schedules, tasking, and activities were discussed to be executed for the whole period of the station immersion and the areas to focus on, which would be the PNP's Quad Concept, specifically the Intelligence, Operations Section, Investigation Section, and PCR Section. Also, advice was given, pointing out the dos and don'ts during the immersion to help us perform better.
In conclusion, rendering courtesy calls as a PNPA Cadet is not just a formality but an essential part of training as a future PNP leader. It helps establish good relationships with stakeholders, enhance communication and coordination, develop professionalism and leadership skills, and promote public awareness. As a Cadet, respect is a significant value you should uphold, and rendering courtesy calls is one way to demonstrate this value.
