The Cadets engage in the Command Conference of the Police Regional Office Cordillera
The Cadets serve as observers in the command conference of the Police Regional Office Cordillera, preparing for the significant upcoming line-up of events like the Spring Festival, the Alumni Home Coming of the Philippine Military Academy, and the Panagbenga 2023. Major Event Security Management requires a comprehensive and proactive approach to security planning, including risk assessment, venue preparation, and crowd management.
PBGen Mafelino Bazar, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, has ordered the deployment of 1,588 cops to ensure safety and security in the forthcoming celebration of the Panagbenga 2023 or the Baguio Flower Festival 2023.[1]
Based on my observations, security management for events with large crowds contains the best practices of the Police Regional Office Cordillera, which they are implementing. It was adequate for law enforcement and security in the area of responsibility. Terrorists, other criminals, and protesters may target events involving many VIPs, such as the Alumni Homecoming of the Philippine Military Academy.
The Baguio City Police Office will take over the activities necessary to conduct major events safely and orderly. These activities will be carried out in collaboration with local government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.[2]
In conclusion, event security management is a crucial aspect of policing, and as PNPA Cadets, we must be equipped with skills regarding Major Event Security Management. Learning to conduct risk assessments, prepare venues, manage crowds, and respond to emergencies. These skills will prepare us for a career in law enforcement, where we will be responsible for protecting the public and maintaining order in various settings.
